| Easter Lily Block |
Friends, it's back to the sewing room! I always seem to be searching for new, pretty prints to represent the springtime. If you're thinking of adding a little flowery flower to your next quilting endeavor, you are going to love the Easter Lily Quilt Block this week!
This traditional block is just a sticher's delight and was designed by the brilliant Wendy Russell at PatchworkSquare.
Wendy's design is so great because of the balance between traditional piecing and “cute” movement. This is a clever layout of half square triangles (HSTs) and squares into a beautiful stylized lily. Look at how the main dynamic extends outward, leading you to step right into the cream colored petals and the surrounding green leaves. It seems like a pretty complex design but it's all done using traditional patchwork methods, so it should be completed surprisingly quickly!
This block is ideal for the stash! For a classic spring look, go with the traditional whites and pastels, or for a more modern approach, try adding some colorful batiks for a pop in the floral geometry. It is excellent as an individual element for a table runner or be repeated throughout the top of a quilt for a great perennial garden look.
