When you want to make a proper heirloom item to pay tribute to this enduring layout, a fusion of two powerhouse vintage designs is the best option. Today's quilt is a stunning wedding of the 30s Irish Chain Dresden pattern, the 20s Ziegler style, and the 30s Irish Chain method.

The combination of these two patterns in this striking layout beautifully brings together the structured geometric perfection of an Irish Chain with the soft blooming charm of the Dresden Plate, which has been historically recognized as the “Friendship Ring” or “Aster” in pattern anthologies such as Ruby Short McKim's classic 101 Patchwork Patterns.
