Card Trick Quilt

Back to the quilting room! Have you ever looked at this "Card Trick" quilt block and thought about trying but found the traditional piecing technique intimidating due to the difficult half-square and quarter-square triangles? Well, I have some good news! In this wonderful tutorial by Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Company, she shows a very clever and easy method to create this intricate illusion block without the headache factor of geometry.

This project is intended for the confident beginner and intermediate quilter and restores an old fashioned favorite. Marcus Fabrics' lovely collection of twilight tones fabric is used by Jenny to illustrate just how achievable complex designs can be using pre-cut strips.

Final Thought
This is the Card Trick block's beauty, it always looks three dimensional and the manner in which Jenny arranges the blocks on point gives a delightful secondary pattern all the way across the quilt top. This is a pattern for a simple stitched quilt that can easily be done, but is also a challenge to the piecing enthusiast who wants to try something new. Get your rotary cutter and pre-cuts and let's get sewing!
