| Scrappy Four Patch Charm Quilt |
Fellow quilters! You may be like me and have a pile of charm packs waiting for just the right project. Today I'm very happy to share a design that makes these 5" squares come alive: Scrappy Four Patch Charm Quilt by Kathy Schwartz from the Tamarack Shack Longarm Quilting Blog.
The ingenious way Kathy constructs blocks is what makes this pattern stand out. This is a "out of the box" design that is seamed around the edges of the background square and then cut twice diagonally instead of piecing. This is a very effective way to produce half-square triangle (HST) units to add their charm to the quilt.
The project is very easy to make, and needs just 3 charm packs (96 squares) and 1 background fabric. This is a straightforward technique that makes a beautiful, 63 3/4" x 69 1/2" quilt top. Please use a little more care with the bias edges! This is a great tutorial for any quilting project to finish something quickly or to accentuate a fabric line you're fond of.
