Kim Diehl's designs likely already have a spot in your sewing room if you are a traditional patchwork enthusiast, but with a nod to timeless and cozy elegance. This stunning Sage & Sea Glass - Star Chain Quilt, designed for Henry Glass Fabrics, is a masterpiece of her signature rich, scrappy style.
This square quilt measures an ample 72.5" x 72.5" and looks great when paired with sage greens, deep sea glass blues and warm cream reproduction prints. The complex design of the lines may initially appear a little daunting. But the magic is in the way it's designed: it features 25 small 8.5" Star Chain blocks, all neatly contained within a nine square and nine ticking-stripe sashing pattern.
The border treatment is what makes this quilt a pretty classic arrangement and a show-stopper for an heirloom quilt. Kim uses a stunning pieceed piano-key border, half-star accents and her signature fluid appliqué vines with pomegranate style blossoms and trailing vines. You can do this with her favorite invisible machine appliqué or sew your vines by hand; either way, it's absolutely breathtaking!
