Fabric & Design Breakdown
The colors of the Spontaneous Quilt are such a mix of bold, romantic florals, subtle geometric/blerner like prints and background materials. The project is 13 different fabrics (A-M) sliced into 3.5" Width of Fabric (WOF).
Uses striped sets (Stripe Sets A-G) which are structured, rather than foundation paper piecing or template cutting. The sets are then connected together in a precise vertical column, the columns are connected in sequence and are finally connected to three major groups which are then joined in with the other parts. All your seams must be lined up across the wide 90" x 99" canvas and to that end, an accurate 1/4″ seam allowance is critical to a construction that is so dependent on straight-line strip piecing.
The pattern structure provides the option to try out both great contrast shades in the registered color gamut or to use prints from your color bank – you will have the opportunity to experiment!
