The Oases pattern is a great example of her style, and creates a beautiful, show-stopping finished quilt that's a generous 104 inches by 104 inches (a gorgeous, large-scale bed quilt).
Pattern Details & Skill Level

- Skill Level: Intermediate / Adventurous Beginner (best if you are a quilter familiar with proper 2 inch strip and chain-piecing)
- Block Design: Used a large, asymmetrical block pattern, 18.5" before sewing to the quilt top. You will create 36 of these eye-catching blocks.
Fabric Requirements & Stash-Busting Tips
As usual with Becky's "scrap-friendly" style, the pattern makes extensive use of fast strip-piecing methods instead of many block-piecing methods:
- White or Very Light Fabrics: 3½ yards (for high contrast with the darker fabric).
- Various Blues: 12 ½ yards of colored blues. An important technique to use is a combination of light, medium dark and dark dark blues so that good, clear lines are created between the light and dark areas of the picture, Becky says. (Note: The lights can also be replaced by pastels but the geometric layout really needs a high value-contrast to really pop!
- Binding: ¾ yard or make a quick and scrappy binding using your leftover strip sets.
