This project allows you to use the pre-cut half-roll strip sets in rich colors – such as Primary, Earth, and Sorbet – which are a generous 70” x 70” in size. The clever technique applied in the construction is that nineteen strips of colourful fabric, ranging from Jewel to Lagoon to Cranberry to Curry to Earth, are sewn together in matching panels and then cut diagonally into four large triangles (A, B, C and D). As the blocks are sewn together, the angles produce a radial center block with outer frame blocks to create a shimmering, seamless color progression.
This free pattern is for an intermediate quilter who wants to take their pressing and nesting to the next level or for a scrap quilter looking to try out some exact angle cuts. The key to success is cutting in alternate seams and by alternating the directions of the seams when joining long strips so they do not distort.
