| Radiant Quilt (via Craftsy member Ginny Flock) |
In case you are attracted to quilts with strong geometry and play of fabric, the Radiant Quilt by Cozy Quilt Designs is the perfect option. This pattern of quilt has been able to win the hearts of quilters due to its light-soaked look as the name suggests and is particularly beautiful when made of high quality fabrics such as those of RJR fabrics.
The pattern based on Fat Quarters Anonymous is easy to work with (as demonstrated in the You Tube tutorial), and it is fulfilling to those who have already mastered the craft of quilting.
What Is So Special about the Radiant Quilt:
The Radiant Quilt is designed with the help of simple geometrical forms to produce a dynamic image. When the quilt is put together, it looks like it is glowing in the middle and the pieces are almost bursting out like a star in all directions. This light energy has made it a popular choice in quilts that are destined either to be placed on beds, walls or snuggly up-to-now throws!
RJVR Fabrics are more effective at this: their luxurious, well-matched fabrics provide stunning color contrast and touch that makes the glamorous design shine.
Materials & Preparation
These are the main things you need before commencing piecing:
- Paternity quilt pattern, Cozy Quilt Designs, this pattern is also a good pattern to use with fat quarters and the pattern can be used in sizes that are baby up to king.
- Fabric collection - RJR Fabrics works with fabric line to coordinate a set of fabrics of your choice to coordinate your quilt palette and enhance the radiant look.
- Quilting accessories - rotary cutter, mat, acrylic rulers, sewing machine, quality thread, pins, and batting of your choice.
Proper cutting and pressing is significant in a design such as this in which shapes and angles are corresponding so as to form the radiating pattern.
Step-by-Step Construction
1. Cut Your Pieces
Tracing the cutting diagram of the pattern. This quilt involves a combination of strips, squares, and triangles - strips, squares, and triangles which are assembled together to get the radiating blocks that make the quilt have its own character.
2. Assemble Quilt Blocks
This is done to give you a visual representation of how the colors and forms will combine; lay out your pieces in advance and then sew them. Use of a seam allowance of uniform 1/4 inch to give the correct block sizes. Stitch as you go up tight blocks.
3. Join Blocks into Quilt Top.
After sewing the individual blocks, lay the blocks in the pattern you see in the pattern or tutorial. This design plays off of order; a fabric rearranged by a few simple methods can result in entirely different appearances to it, so have a go at auditioning your blocks.
4. Quilt and Bind
Once the top has been assembled, cover it with batting and backing cloth. Cut as you please, even in straight lines (especially effective with the radiant motif) and then cut, and put on your binding.
Watch & Learn
There is also a nice You Tube tutorial that shows how the Radiant Quilt is constructed in action. This is one of the best companions of the printed pattern, particularly when you like to see the techniques and piecing patterns at work before you start sewing.

The Finishing Tips to a Show-Stopping Finish.
- Color Play: A palette of light and dark prints increases the illusion of radiating.
- Precise Piecing This is because cutting is precise and seam allowances are precise, which means that blocks can be easily aligned.
- Quilting Choice: Think of quilting lines that reflect your block geometry -- they are able to intensify the radiant message.

It is a trend, which favors quilters of all degrees and creates a quilt which has a visual appeal and a warm aspect.
