Ahh, if you're a quilter who enjoys bright, fun and wild projects, then you are going to be obsessed with this absolute gem of a pattern. A quilt project that takes a whimsical turn, The Paisley Splash Quilt is an appliqué quilt for quilters seeking something unusual, artsy and fun!
Created by the brilliant duo MYiesha & Katie (MYKT) and beautifully written by Laura Jaquinto for Windham Fabrics, this pattern is filled with a really cool print, a majestic elephant with a blazing “splash” of intricate paisley shapes and colorful dots launched in the air. The original project was designed to highlight the bold, vibrant, patterns of the Raj Collection by French Bull, lending a contemporary and cosmopolitan touch to the whole project.
With its sweet and manageable size of 22 ½" x 33 ½", this project can be used to create an amazing wall hanging, a show stopping mini quilt or a cute and colorful gift for a baby shower. It is a raw-edged appliqué which means no complex seam allowances to be concerned with. A good fusible web (such as Mystic Fuse or Lite Steam-a-Seam 2) is easy to use and will hold your pieces in place, and then the edges can be finished with a good classic zig zag stitch.
Paisley Splash is one of the most beautiful designs that is customizable. The pattern is based on beautiful "fussy cutting" – picking out certain paisley patterns from the print fabric to make the splashing water, but it is also an excellent "stash-buster". The background size is easily adjusted or you can tear away the fabric scraps of your favorite fabric to create a truly unique piece.
You can use this elephant applique pattern for gorgeous rich original French Bull colors or indulge in your own fabric stash to mix and match with complimentary colors and make your cutting table giant happy!
