Colorful Fabrics Connected To Intelligent Geometry!
The wonderful thing about Stacey Day's design is the way she is using color throughout the block construction. The 13 ½" blocks are constructed in three separate components: 4 Corner Units paper pieced, 4 Side Units paper pieced and the traditional Center 9-Patch Unit.
What a Ditz, Space Sprinkles, On the Grid, and all those other saturated prints from Tula Pink's True Colors line are then paired with crisp low-volume prints (Ghost Bunny and Ghost Droplettes).
The background prints are low volume and will give the quilt a floating lattice effect since it will be assembled on point. The outer setting triangles and borders are created with subtle tonal motifs that allow the eye to rest and the 25 floral starbursts in the center of the composition to come into their own.
Tips before you stitch—what it is and why you need it.
- Print and cut Your 200 template sheets at 100% scale and check the 1" test square before cutting.
- Batch & Group: Pre-cut all your fabric into blocks (1-25) and organize by them in colored project trays. When your Foundation 1 and Foundation 2 pieces are organized, the piecing process is smooth and enjoyable.
- Fabrics such as Ghost Bunny have directional prints. Be very careful when cutting your 21" and 10 ¾" setting triangles so that all motifs are right reading across the quilt top.
Final Thoughts
