Tudor Rose Block

If you think your next project needs some 30's flair, you will be in love with the Tudor Rose block! This classic block has been designed and beautifully adapted by Rose Johnston of Threadbare Creations, and has a fascinating history.

The Tudor Rose pattern goes back to Loretta Leitner! During the 1930s, she wrote popular daily quilt patterns for Chicago Tribune readers as Nancy Cabot. Rose has done this historical gem and made it easy for today's makers by using the most convenient 1/8" measurements and asking you to cut the center square just a tad, and a true, headache-free 6" block will result.

The Tudor Rose is a very versatile piece used as Block 48 in the spectacular Chatelaine Sampler Quilt. This block will be a part of your pattern collection whether you are creating a whole sampler, a large 80-block horizontal project, or creating a lovely mini quilt. Pick up your favorite fabric scraps, put your machine into action and let's get to work piecing this classic beauty!

The appeal of traditional blocks such as the Tudor Rose is that they are a link to the quilters that have gone before us. Do not be daunted by that little of modernisation in the middle square—occasionally, a little bit of modern twists can bring a historical design to life!
